The development of machines must not only deal with solid objects, but often also with flowing and streaming mediums, such as in aeroplane and turbine engineering. A prediction of the streaming or pressure relations that is as precise as possible, presents one of the biggest and most important challenges for numerical simulations. Often this is the basis for optimisation processes, which enable the realisation of projects using a minimum of resources (reduction of air-resistance when driving, optimal configuration of the elements of a motor etc.).
In the animation, the flow behaviour of a gaseous medium around an object is simulated (as precisely as possible within the computational limitations on a mobile device). The size of the object can be altered using the slide bar. One can also swipe the gaseous medium and thereby create your "own" air flow.
