In May 2024 the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) Transregio 109 will hold an international conference on discrete differential geometry and dimers in Berlin. In recent years, the study of the dimer model of statistical mechanics has unveiled numerous and sometimes surprising connections to various areas of mathematics including discrete differential geometry, a core topic of our CRC. During this five day conference, international guests and members of the CRC will present talks on advances in the theory of the dimer model, discrete differential geometry, and related topics. Furthermore there will be ample opportunity for scientific exchange and stimulating discussions in an informal atmosphere.
The conference will take place from 10:00-18:00 on Monday 27th May, 9:00 - 18:00 on Tuesday 28th to Thursday 30th, and 9:00-13:00 on Friday 31st May.
The Humboldt Graduate School in central Berlin is a beautiful classicist building, built according to a design by Ludwig Ferdinand Hesse. Completed in 1840, it was the teaching building of the first Prussian veterinary school. The entire building has been extensively restored.
Berlin is renowend as a cosmopolitan city with a rich history cultural diversity, and modern dynamism. From iconic landmarks like the Berlin Wall to its thriving arts scene, the city offers a vibrant backdrop for a memorable conference experience.
